Bird Focus Group
Weather permitting, the Bird Focus group meets on Saturdays for a leisurely 2 hour walk in the Red Deer and Central Alberta area.
Chris Olsen is your host and all are welcome, you do not have to be a RDRN member to attend.
Bring your binoculars, camera/phone. Wear sturdy hiking footwear. Some trails are on rough terrain. Carry water and an energy snack. Wear layers and carry rain gear and a hat as required by conditions. Let Chris know if you have any potential medical issues. Please come fully vaccinated.

Aug 6 – Michael O’Brien Wetland – meet in the Safety City parking lot
Aug 13 – Red Deer Polytechnic south trails – meet in the south, west parking lot
Aug 20 – Cow Lake – meet in the campground parking lot
Aug 27 – Hazlett Lake – take HWY 11 A west from Gaetz Avenue. Take the last RH turn before the HWY 2 exit and park roadside outside the private gate
Interesting Bird Sightings
We see out-of-the-ordinary birds periodically. Usually these are birds that are far out of their norrmal range or uncommon in our area. Read more…
