An order of insects that comprises the grasshoppers, crickets and their relatives. They have a saddle-shaped thorax, hind legs that are typically long and modified for jumping and a characteristic song which the male produces by stridulating. Including also the stoneflies, stick insects, earwigs, cockroaches, mantises, and termites.
