DESCRIPTION:You are all invited to the Red Deer River Naturalists Bird Focus Group Walk Field Trip \nHost: Chris Olsen \nWhen: March 21\, 2026 – Carburn Park 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. / Fish Creek Provincial Park 1:00 p.m. to approx. 5:00 p.m. / Join us for either or both.\nLocation: Carburn Park\, 67 Riverview Drive SE Calgary\, Alberta / Fish Creek Provincial Park\, Boat Launch on Bow Bottom Trail SE\, Calgary\, Alberta.\nCarburn Park is a large natural area park nestled along the Bow River. It features two man-made ponds\, a regional pathway and numerous\, wildlife and waterfowl to experience. The Fish Creek Provincial Park Boat Launch is near Hulls Wood with birding trails.\nMeet: In the main parking lot at Carburn Park\, and the boat ramp parking lot at Fish Creek Provincial Park. \nAll are welcome\, you do not have to be a RDRN member to attend. We’re an inclusive group that learns from each other\, and birders of all skill levels are welcome! \nBring your binoculars* and camera/phone. Wear layers and sturdy hiking footwear\, water resistant with ice cleats as required by the season. Some trails are on rough terrain. Distances vary\, but may be up to 5 kms. Carry water and an energy snack. Let Chris know if you have any potential medical issues. \n*RDRN have two birding binoculars that can be borrowed (first come\, first served) by new participants. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a RDRN/Nature Central Snowshoeing & Winter Hike Sunday\, March 29\, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. for a winter adventure at Open Creek Natural Area\, a 160-acre site off Highway 53\, 25 kms west of Rimbey. Follow a beautiful trail along the eastern poplar ridge\, explore old-growth forest\, patterned muskeg\, and upland pine\, and enjoy the scenic Open Creek. \nWhether we snowshoe (bring your own snowshoes) or take a winter walk will depend on Mother Nature\, but either way\, you’ll enjoy fresh air and beautiful scenery. \nSpaces are limited\, so email nir.rdrn.nature@gmail.com to register and receive directions! \nBe sure to dress warmly for winter conditions\, wear sturdy foot-ware\, bring water and an energy snack. Poles if you have them. \nNo Membership Required. This event is open to all. \nNote: Events are subject to cancellation due to weather conditions and other factors.
