DESCRIPTION:Nature Central – Wild Alberta Parklands\nThe goal of the RDRN Nature Central program is to celebrate the protected areas in Central Alberta and to increase the appreciation\, thoughtful exploration\, non-consumptive use and ecological understanding of these areas.  \nRegister for our Nature Central winter snowshoeing/walk on Saturday\, March 16\, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Alberta Parks Open Creek Natural Area. Email epc.rdrn.nature@gmail.com to register. We will arrange a meeting point nearby. \nLocation: West on Hwy 53 from Rimbey\, turn north onto Range Road 51. (Approx 1 hr drive from Red Deer) \nThe area is predominantly tamarack/black spruce patterned muskeg with some poplar and upland pine forest. \nAll are welcome\, you do not have to be an RDRN member to attend.

It features two man-made ponds\, a regional pathway and numerous\, wildlife and waterfowl to experience. The Inglewood Bird Sanctuary is an ecological safe haven\, surrounded by a bustling city\, that connects people to their wild neighbours and the wonders of nature.\nMeet: In the main parking lot at Carburn Park\, and the main parking lot at Inglewood Bird Sanctuary.\n \nAll are welcome\, you do not have to be a RDRN member to attend. We’re an inclusive group that learns from each other\, and birders of all skill levels are welcome! \nBring your binoculars* and camera/phone. Wear layers and sturdy hiking footwear\, water resistant with ice cleats as required by the season. Some trails are on rough terrain. Distances vary\, but may be up to 5 kms. Carry water and an energy snack. Let Chris know if you have any potential medical issues. \n*RDRN have two birding binoculars that can be borrowed (first come\, first served) by new participants.
