DESCRIPTION:Red Deer River Naturalists is a proud Gold Member Sponsor for the ALMS annual conference for 2023.\n\nALMS \n2023 Annual Conference\nSeptember 12-13\, 2023\nHeld at Camp Kannawin\n\nEach year the Alberta Lake Management Society (ALMS) hosts a two-day workshop to engage stakeholders on issues related to lake monitoring and management. In 2023\, ALMS is bringing the annual conference to Sylvan Lake\, Alberta! This event will also feature topics specific to the Red Deer Watershed in support of the Red Deer River Watershed Alliance’s Fall Forum! Presentations on our agenda include subjects such as bulrush restoration\, piping plover distribution\, oil sands monitoring\, shallow groundwater\, cyanobacteria blooms\, satellite imagery of lakes and more! DESCRIPTION:You are all invited to the Red Deer River Naturalists Bird Focus Group Walk\n\n\n\nLocation: Springbrook Natural Area\, take the main road into Springbrook (Red Deer Airport). Just before the bend to the right there is a small gravel parking lot where you can park at the entrance to Tamarack Blvd. We cross over the road into the park.\n\n\n\nWhen: September 23\, 2023 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Maybe longer.\n\n\n\nHost: Chris Olsen\n\n\n\nAll are welcome\, you do not have to be a RDRN member to attend.\n\n\n\nBring your binoculars*\, camera/phone\, bug spray and sunscreen. Wear sturdy hiking footwear. Some trails are on rough terrain. Distances vary\, but may be up to 5 kms. Carry water and an energy snack. Wear layers and carry rain gear and a hat as required by conditions. Let Chris know if you have any potential medical issues.\n\n\n\n*RDRN have two birding binoculars that can be borrowed (first come\, first served) by new participants.
