It also provides accessible\, scientific insight into the population status of 463 Canadian bird species. \nJody Allair is an avid birder and naturalist who enjoys sharing his enthusiasm for the natural world. He is the Director of Communications at Birds Canada\, where he manages the organization’s public relations and media. He is the co-editor of Bird Watch Canada Magazine\, producer of The Warblers Podcast and a coordinator of eBird Canada. In addition to his 20+ years at Birds Canada\, he has been leading birding tours with Eagle-Eye Tours since 2008. \nAll are welcome\, you do not have to be a RDRN member to attend.

Join Dr. Haines to learn about the diversity of Ground Squirrel species in Alberta and how to identify them. Not only will she share details about the importance of Ground Squirrels and conservation initiatives in Alberta\, she will also offer suggestions about how to manage Ground Squirrel conflicts.\n\n\nDr. Jessica Haines is an assistant professor at MacEwan University. She is a wildlife and conservation biologist who works on Franklin’s Ground Squirrel conservation in Alberta. She also enjoys teaching undergraduate classes and sharing her knowledge at public events. Often overlooked\, muskrats play critical roles in wetlands and beyond. They might not be on a Canadian coin\, but the role they play in sustaining Canada’s wetlands is priceless. \nDr. Glynnis Hood is a Professor Emerita and ecologist at the University of Alberta and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Saskatchewan. Her research interests include aquatic ecology\, wildlife biology and human-wildlife interactions. She is the author of Semi-aquatic Mammals: Ecology and Biology\, The Beaver Manifesto (TBM)\, A Cabin Christmas\, and the newly released second-edition of TBM entitled The Beaver Manifesto: Conservation\, Conflict and the Future of Wetlands.  \nAll are welcome\, you do not have to be a RDRN member to attend.

Hear about her experience with bats\, bugs\, sloths and snakes. Enjoy photos of her adventures boating on the Amazon River\, traversing treetop canopy walkways\, and learning from local naturalist guides. Celebrate The Morpho Institute’s support of the Indigenous Maijuna’s conservation efforts\, CONAPAC’s far-reaching community work and a local bird club’s successful binocular program. \nElissa Odgren is a biology instructor at Red Deer Polytechnic. She is a passionate educator with decades of experience helping students foster their love of biology and respect for the environment. Elissa has participated in a variety of research studies with reptiles\, amphibians and bats throughout North America. Exploring human-nature connections and stark realities\, Lorne Fitch calls on us all to safeguard imperilled species and threatened places. He seeks to inspire change through education\, motivation and a touch of righteous anger. \nLorne has been a Biologist for over 50 years\, working on many issues related to use of land and water.
