SUMMARY:Ya-Ha-Tinda Hike
DESCRIPTION:Ya-Ha-Tinda\, “Mountain Prairie” in the Stoney language\,  is an inspiring region of prairie and parkland surrounded by mountain peaks.  Begin in the Red Deer River valley and learn about the traditional and historical uses of the land.  Then meander along Bighorn Creek\, climbing up to several breath-taking vantage points.  We will hike up through montane forest to a panoramic valley viewpoint\, then further on to the summit of Sheep Mountain\, taking in a superb 360 degree view. \nJoin William Davies and members of the Red Deer River Naturalists (RDRN) to learn about their great stewardship work to protect an important watershed and  to learn more about the history and biodiversity associated with this region. \nCost: $20 AWA members\, $25 non-members \nPlease Note: This is a Difficult hike of approximately 16 kilometres and an elevation gain of about 575 metres (1900 feet).
